Ministerul Afacerilor Externe informează că, în după-amiaza zilei de 13 martie și la începutul nopții de 14 martie, a fost detectat un atac cibernetic de tip Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) îndreptat împotriva platformelor eviza.mae.ro și econsulat.ro. În urma acestuia, site-urile au înregistrat încetiniri ale funcționării și, pentru scurte intervale de timp, au devenit inaccesibile.
Echipamentele de protecție, împreună cu specialiștii MAE, au acționat prompt și au reușit să reducă semnificativ impactul atacului. În prezent, toate sistemele digitale ale MAE funcționează normal.
Atacurile de tip DDoS reprezintă o supraîncărcare artificială a traficului digital, cu scopul de a bloca accesul la un site. Acestea nu presupun accesarea sau compromiterea datelor, nefiind echivalente cu o intruziune informatică de tip hacking. Nicio informație sensibilă nu a fost accesată de autorii acestor atacuri, însă inconvenientul major generat de astfel de acțiuni este faptul că platformele devin temporar inaccesibile pentru cetățenii români, împiedicând furnizarea serviciilor digitale de care aceștia au nevoie.
La nivel global, frecvența acestor atacuri este în creștere, iar România și platforme guvernamentale au fost vizate în mod repetat în ultimii ani.
MAE, în cooperare cu instituțiile specializate, va continua să asigure protecția sistemelor sale digitale și continuitatea serviciilor.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that, on the afternoon of March 13 and in the early hours of March 14, a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyberattack was detected targeting its digital platforms eviza.mae.ro and econsulat.ro. As a result, the websites experienced slowdowns and, for short periods of time, became inaccessible.
The protection systems, together with MFA specialists, acted promptly and managed to significantly reduce the impact of the attack. At present, all MFA digital systems are functioning normally.
DDoS attacks involve artificially overloading digital traffic with the aim of blocking access to a website. They do not involve accessing or compromising data and are not equivalent to a hacking-type intrusion. No sensitive information was accessed by the perpetrators of these attacks; however, the major inconvenience caused by such actions is that the platforms become temporarily inaccessible to Romanian citizens, preventing the delivery of the digital services they need.
Globally, the frequency of such attacks is increasing, and Romania and its government platforms have been repeatedly targeted in recent years.
The Romanian MFA, in cooperation with specialized institutions, will continue to ensure the protection of its digital systems and the continuity of its services.
