DESPRE CASA NEGUSTORULUI DIMITRIE PETRESCU
Această clădire monument istoric, construită la sfârșitul secolului al XIX-lea, păstrează semnele unei epoci de modernizare și înflorire economică a Bucureștiului, când orașul și-a câștigat renumele de „Micul Paris”. Modelul francez s-a impus atunci ca principal reper în arhitectură, dar și pentru vestimentaţie, gesturi și accesorii cotidiene. Limba franceză a devenit emblema păturilor sociale cultivate, iar călătorii străini erau plăcut impresionați de un Bucureşti care se desprindea treptat de Orient şi Balcani, pentru a se lega de Europa prin modelul cultural francez.
Influențe franceze se regăsesc și în stilul arhitectural al casei negustorului Dimitrie Petrescu, ridicată la intersecția străzii Berzei cu Calea Griviței, două artere de-a lungul cărora s-a scris istoria Bucureștiului. La exterior, clădirea păstrează intacte toate elementele arhitecturale, privirea fiind cucerită de eleganța și detaliile decorative aplicate pe frontoanele ferestrelor. La interior, încăperile înalte cu tavane decorate spectaculos cu rozete, frize și cornișe cu modele florale, poartă nostalgia unei serate muzicale cu invitați din lumea bună a capitalei. Proprietatea dispune de un proiect de arhitectură pentru restaurarea fațadei, reamenajare interioară și pentru transformarea podului în mansardă. După toate aceste lucrări își poate recupera noblețea de acum o sută de ani și poate redeveni un adevărat punct de reper al Bucureștiului.
