We are pleased to recommend the New York premiere of “The Yellow Tie,” a compelling cinematic tribute to the legendary Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache, directed by his son, Serge Celebidachi, and starring John Malkovich. Presented by The Alex Fund on Sunday, October 18, at 2 PM, at the Village East by Angelika Theatre in New York, the special screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Serge Celebidachi and John Malkovich, moderated by Ethan Hawke. The event benefits The Alex Fund’s longstanding efforts to improve access to early education and create better opportunities for disadvantaged children in Romania.

“The Yellow Tie” brings to the screen the remarkable life, artistic vision, and enduring legacy of Sergiu Celibidache, one of the most influential orchestral conductors of the 20th century. Exploring his extraordinary journey, his uncompromising pursuit of musical excellence, and his profound understanding of the transformative power of music, the film celebrates a towering figure of Romanian culture whose influence continues to resonate internationally.

Beyond its artistic significance, the premiere offers an opportunity to recognize and support the remarkable work of The Alex Fund, which, for more than two decades, has helped advance educational opportunities for vulnerable children in Romania. Through its sustained support of pioneering organizations such as OvidiuRo, The Alex Fund has contributed to expanding access to preschool education, fostering early literacy, and helping children from underserved communities build a brighter future.
