The 2025 edition of our annual Salon of Romanian-American Artists marks a new chapter in the evolution of this program, presenting an ambitious collaborative project with The Romanian Art Collective in San Francisco. This year’s exhibition revolves around the fundamental and often unsettling question “Where Are You From?” — a reflection on identity, belonging, and the multifaceted experiences of migration that shape contemporary life.
The show brings together eight Romanian-American artists — Alexandra Cicorschi, Ioanida Costache, Florentina Mocanu, Bogdan Pastor, Alexandru Salceanu, Emanuela Harris Sintamarian, Camelia Skikos, and Kat Mustatea — whose creative practices span diverse media, including painting, photography, fashion design, performance, installation, and sound art. United by a shared sense of displacement and reinvention, these artists offer deeply personal responses to the ongoing negotiation between roots and relocation, between the cultural memory of “home” and the transformative experience of “elsewhere.”
THE SALON OF THE ROMANIAN-AMERICAN ARTISTS is a permanent annual program of the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, launched in 2022, dedicated to promoting the works of contemporary North American artists of Romanian origin and celebrating the creative dynamism of the Romanian-American artistic community.
